The San also
referred to as the Bushmen, live in scattered groups in the vast
semi-desert regions of the Kalahari.These primeval
hunter-gatherers adapted remarkably well to their arid and
uncompromising environment. There are approximately 35 000 San
people in Namibia. Traditionally, the San populations were all
subdivided into hunting bands controlled by headmen. Ideas about
Supreme Being among the San are very vague. There are those who
believe in a good being called !Khutse and a bad being called
Gaua. Renowned as great storytellers, the San express, the San
express themselves eloquently in prose, music, mimicry and dance
